I identified the need to redesign the Law School Undergraduate Community site early in 2016 due to there being outdated information, confusing UI and overall extremely poor learner experience resulting in disengagement with our key communication channel with the undergraduate cohort.
I completed the initial redesign of the information architecture, mocked up ‘look and feel’ examples for student feedback and liaised with learning support staff about updating particular sections of the site. As I was already at capacity in my Learning Designer role, I leveraged relationships and knowledge of QUT internal systems by collaborating with eLS staff to redesign and redevelop the QUT Real Law Blackboard Community site.
The end product was described as “fantastic” by Professor Carol Nicoll, Executive Dean of Education, who wrote to the Law School Assistant Dean, Learning & Teaching, to say she would ask her staff “to talk to you so we can overtly and unashamedly emulate what you have done!”
